Yes, Tyson Fury Has A Boxing Cousin Named Hughie Fury

In sports, numerous “royal” families grace various sports. For hockey, there’s the Howe family, led by Gordie Howe. In football, there’s currently the Kelce’s, with both Travis and Jason headed to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But for boxing? It’s the Fury family, with both Tyson and Hughie Fury.

That’s right! Tyson Fury (34-0-1) has a cousin named Hughie and he’s actually pretty good. While the “Gypsy King” might get all the media attention (especially with his mega-fight against Oleksandr Usyk), Hughie is also getting love in Great Britain.

But can the duo take over boxing? Tyson Fury is doing his part to rule the boxing world. However, let’s examine Hughie and see where he stands in the landscape. After all, not many people are familiar with the other Fury family member as they are with the “Gypsy King.”

Hughie Fury And Tyson Fury Have One Goal

Both Tyson and Hughie Fury (28-3) have stated their goal was to become the “new Klitschkos.” That’s a nod to Wladimir Klitschko (64-5) and his heavyweight dominance, where the Ukrainian ruled the division. Of course, the “Gypsy King” vanquished Klitschko via unanimous decision in 2015, so the Furys are on their way.

But what about Hughie? What makes him stand out? One thing that stands out is he’s yet to be knocked out. Despite losing three fights, all three losses came via decision. He’s just as durable and tough as his cousin is, making him a formidable opponent.

Another strength of the British boxer is how quick his jabs are. He can fire off five punches quickly, leaving his opponents on their heels. Fury can also mix it up with heavier blows, keeping them off-balance.

What’s Hughie Fury’s Future?

But that doesn’t mean Hughie Fury is perfect. There are things he must work on to become a legitimate threat. For example, he tends to become lethargic in the ring, slowing down and letting his punches labor. Some more conditioning will get him on the right track.

Keep in mind that Fury was battling a skin condition known as acne conglobate. This condition would leave the fighter fatigued, dealing with many scars on his body. Taking medications to heal the damage didn’t make it better, for it left him more fatigued.

Still, Hughie Fury can take over the boxing world with his cousin, Tyson. The family has taken over the sport and hasn’t released its grip, taking down numerous foes along the way. In turn, a new royal family in boxing is established.
